Newspaper nails tutorial

tips & tricks
  • I used Vodka for this, but you can also use rubbing alcohol. Some people have even used mouthwash!
  • Keep a cotton pad with remover at hand so you can quickly wipe away any mistakes. A couple I tried didn't work out very well, but the newspaper ink wipes away quite easily.
  • Once you apply the newspaper to your nail, don't move it or your letters will get blurred. Just gently roll your finger over the nail.
  • If the paper isn't wet enough, just add another drop of alcohol with your finger.
  • Make sure your letters are all the right way up. I put some of mine on upside down!

Christmas Nail Art Tutorial

tips & tricks
  • If you want to spice up this tutorial a bit, try an ombre base! Just check out the Ombre Nails tutorial.
  • Remember, all snowflakes are different so get creative and play around with different shapes.
  • Since this is such detailed line work, the thinner the brush the better!
  • If you make a mistake with the white detailing, just cover it up with a bit of red polish!
  • Another way to spice it up is to go over the snowflake with silver glitter. Or just dab a bit here and there so it has a bit of sparkle. It's Christmas, you can always add sparkles!

Splatter Nails Tutorial

tips & tricks

  • Lay out newspaper to work over. Put out more than you think you need....the polish is going to splatter everywhere!
  • Experiment with how high or low you hold the straw over your nail to get different effects.
  • When you dip the straw, try to get polish all across the opening of the straw, not just a ring of polish. It will splatter better.
  • If you're using a bendy straw, cut the bendy bit off.
  • Make your blows short and sharp. One quick little puff will splatter it better.
  • Be patient! This one takes some practise!

BRILLIANT BRAID TUTORIAL

Step 1.2 Pull your hair together to one side. Separate the hair above your hands and put your fore finger and thumb through the hole.
Step 3.4 Grab the bottom of your hair and pull through the hole. You will repeat this step over and over until you reach the bottom of your hair.

Spin Pin Waves

I am constantly on the look out for easy hair styles that don't look so easy.
I am also looking for no heat/low heat styling because it's just too fetching hot for a blow dryer.

And today, I bring you both.

Step 1 - Gather your damp hair with your hands.
Step 2 - Twist your hair.
Step 3 - Wrap into a bun on top of your head and pin in place (do not use hair ties).
Step 4 - Go to bed.
Step 5 - Wake up & unwind your hair.
Step 6 - Take 5 minutes to curl stray pieces, smooth, and spray with hairspray.

Waterfall Braid Hair Tutorial

Step 1: Use your hair brush to brush through all of the hair to ensure there are no knots and tangles before your start braiding. Pop in your hair extensions to add gorgeous length and thickness.
Step 2: Next, you need to decide which side you’d like the braid to be on; I’m going to use the right side to create my waterfall braid hair tutorial.
Step 3: You then need to take your styling comb and create your parting. I think the waterfall braid tends to look more chic when braided onto a side parting, so take your styling comb and take it over a little from your middle parting.

Half-up braided crown

1. Part your hair down the middle, and gather together a large section of hair on one side. (I like to pull pieces down in the front so I have softness around my face.)
2-4. Braid the section. Start loosely at the top, working backwards in the direction that you want the braid to go (so rather than braiding straight down, you want to braid back, so the braid is at a slight slant). Secure with an elastic.
5. Repeat on the other side.
6-7. Cross the first braid behind your head so that the braid swoops down to the nape of your neck (it’s a more feminine, flattering and grown-up look than crossing it directly across the back of your head). Pin in place with bobby pins, making sure to tuck in the tail. (If your braid is quite long, you can fold the tail in half and tuck it behind the braid.)
8. Repeat on the other side.

Create This Elegant French Twist

Steps
1. Start with dry or damp hair. Hair can be curly or straight.
2. Comb through hair with your fingers and pull it all over to the desired side.
3. Take your hair into one hand like you are going to create a low side ponytail.
4. Twist hair forward (towards your face) starting with the hair behind your ear, from the roots. Twist hair a couple inches down the ponytail. I stopped mine just below the earlobe.
5. Now secure the twist with bobby pins. Place pins at the base of your twist where the hair is folded in at your scalp. For the best hold, take the lip of the pin and push it in and away from the twist, then push it back into the twist, up against your scalp. This will tightly secure your twist. Set the style

Boney Braid Hair Tutorial

  • Step 1:

Brush through all of the hair to untangle any knots and to ensure the hair is smooth before styling begins. If you are adding your hair extensions for thickness and length for this look then be sure to add these now.  You may need to play around with the placement of them so they are well disguised for styling or you could make it easier with a Wrap Around Ponytail.

  • Step 2:

Using your hair brush, pull back all of your hair into a neat ponytail. The ponytail should sit around the middle of your head, not too high and not too low!

Fishtail Braid Tutorial

  • Step 1:

Clip in your BG hair extensions to create extra length and volume which will enhance the look of your fishtail braid.  Make sure you clip these in quite high (let’s say in line with your ears) so the wefts don’t get in the way when you are sectioning your hair into two.

  • Step 2:

Bring all of your hair around to one side; it’s completely up to you which side you choose. Most people tend to bring their hair around to the same side as their fringe is on, if you haven’t got a fringe then you have two options to decide from.
